Exhibit Artwork Process.

This is a post posted for my teacher to mark.

The exhibition artwork was hard due to the fact that i didn’t know what to do for most of the time.

I had the tendency to complete something them remove it because it wasn’t what i wanted.

This was the first painting i started and finished. At First i got m idea for this painting with a picture i had found on the internet, NibbleBit.com

I liked how expressive and tormented the picture was.

First i did a sketch of the rough layout of the picture, drawing in the main lines. Then i photocopied the picture and did one that showed where the shadows were to be placed, the second one where the blood to be place and a third one that showed where the body was to be. As you can see i never ended up putting the body into the work.

I ended up painting the background, which then became the painting, several times. One was a scummy feel painting job that was very dark, dirty and rough, then decided that it didn’t look like a clean bathroom that had been left to decay, so i then painted over top using clean crisp colors matching the color scheme of my parents bathroom due to me not for the life of me know what colors a bathroom should be.

I then painted the dirtyness on top using mostly browns and greens to show mold and dirt. At the end i placed a blood mixture i had made over top for the blood. The problem with the blood is that i did it standing p for most so it looks like the blood is placed on top of the picture and not in it, i did in the end try to make it pool where it would if it was in the real painting but was not as efficient as i had hoped.  Last with the idea of Stephen, i glued, using the blood mixture, a stanly knife onto the painting.

In the end i really like the mirror, it could have been made better if i could figure out how to create cracks in it and make it look real with how it distorts the image, but ran out of patience.

The next process is of Candy Coated Dreams.

When i started this one i was hoping to do cute pictures, (which was noting like my art powerpoint said i would do), but in the process of making the pictures, I found that i liked the process better then he finished product. I would have continued cute pictures and interesting pictures like these,  NibbleBit.comand this,NibbleBit.com but ended up using pornographically placed pictures. I did this to ensure i had a very controversial piece. Some of the pictures where like this.NibbleBit.com and like this.NibbleBit.com

I then decided to change the pictures slightly giving them more contrast so i had more lines to work with. I changed simple things like contrast, hues, and colors to bring the picture into a more primeval stage. This gave it simplistic lines that gave off ambiguous forms.  In the end it gave a fantastic juxtaposition where dirty adult material of the subject matter contrasted nicely with the childish and bright colors of the background.

First i started off with blank paper with which i softly made flowing colors over, some bright and vibrant, others dull and soft.

Then using carbon paper traced bold lines from the picture. (The finished product will be on another post when i have it in its exhibition position).

This last one is one of my favorite ones. It was brought along by a beautifully placed picture and my own personal circumstances.

The picture was found off the internet like most of my inspiration,

NibbleBit.comusing this as a bases i then decided to do a sketch in my book of what i wanted the painting to look like.

I then decided to practice the picture more by making a slightly bigger one and painting it. I ended up with this,

I was not completely happy with it and decided to change some of the things with it, i decided to crop the picture and remove the blood and the drainhole and to remove the eyes.  I quite liked how the hair turned out, but was unhappy with the reflectiveness of it. To create that i did an undercoating of black paint and then used oil paints over top, semi and op type.

In the end i ended up with the finished product which i like the most out of all of them. The hair and skin i feel just doesn’t look right but i was not going to change them due to the fact that i had used so much time going over and over the background and skin. I had changed the skin coloring and look several times, but kept to a blue white and brown color scheme to have a death look to it.

This is one of the ideas that fell through. At first i was going to paint them but enjoyed the drawn look wanted to keep it something like this. but with more detail. I had trouble transferring  the picture to the board. The pictures where from a book i found at the dump that was made in the early 60 or 70’s who pictures may have been innocent then but now- a- days are quite perverted. This is the book and two of the five images i chose to do.

After that failed attempt i decided to do close up of male faces mostly concentrating on the eyes. After i trialed doing some eyes freehand i decided against it.

In the end i tried a more comic style drawings, based on the ideas taken from Salad Fingers which i had been watching for those several days. Here is the video, i am sure you can easily see the comparison.
