Journal entries
Fri 13th-
First journal entry. Before today all we had to do was organizer materials and work out a floor plan, i gave my ideas and inputs but little else.
Today however i sued my strength and good looks (jokes) to help Stephan move the demountable walls with unscrewing them and moving them. We also moved some of the floor to the other room and moved the shelving into place where the new walls were to be.
It seems that all that is left for today is to finish cleaning and getting ready to paint.
Mon 16th-
Today i arrived late as usual but got to work and help put up the first few walls then got down to painting them white. A few things i had learned, is that it is a fantastic idea to put plastic down on the ground before you paint, it saves getting white paint all over the ground >>. The second thing is that gum tape, (used for water painting) can hides those oh so annoying gaps in between panels. But wait till they dry completely before painting over them and make sure you dont paint on the area before you put them on… And last is that it can be very painful painting all day, painting big fucking walls.
Tue 17th-
Today was very rushed, i arrived the latest i had been in a long time which did not help the display team but i made up for it by being one of the last to leave. Today was just painting. Nothing else to break up the pain of painting. After the day my whole body was sore but it must not have compared to the hard workings of the rest of the team and of course the helpers who did not have to help but because they did, made the job so much more easier.
A few more things we gathered… 1. Don’t try and paint over ink with white. You could be their all day and it will not matter, it will seep through. The only salutation is to wash it very very very well or to not use that side of the board. Hopefully with the dark lights no one will notice. Another thing is that without music, the day drags on and destroys you mentally. That maybe on the sides it would be easier to paint all that before placing them on and doing a second coat because it is a pain to get in there after it has been screwed into place due to the overlap of the outer walls.
And lastly, make sure if you have a lot of people in the exhibition have a lot of people on the display team. It is a big job, and if we didn’t have the helpers we would still be their now trying to finish.
