Opening Night For Exhibition.

IT WAS FUN!!!

All up i had over 20 of my friends come, it was soo packed that i couldnt find most of them. But after it me and some friends went to get fish and chips and then talk about shiz on the grass. It was awesome. I only took one pic of what i looked like and i forgot to take pics of the exhibition but i can when i go again to look after it. I am still dissapointed that i only had two sets of artowrk in, but the others must have not been good enough which sucks because i spent soo much time on them.

But with Candy Coated Dreams, i sold 8 pages so i am happy as. Hopefully more might be sold. But it doesn’t matter, the money that i get goes toward me getting new glasses. i am hoping to to buy the game of the year edition of morrowind, that is a little treat, i have the old game but yer, i have wasted hours and hours i remember just one game i had spent over two hours on, then i started a new game because of a bug. well i guess i will put in the pictures then leave.

Exhibit Artwork- Diary Entries for Disply Team

This is where i will put my diary entry that needs to be marked tomorrow for Tech as i am dreadfully tired from painting the walls today at tafe that i can barely hold my hand up let along a pencil.

Most of this can be found in my Artbook but it is abit of a treasure hunt just to locate them.
Team members

Belinda, me, Jenette, Vanessa, Catherine, Wendy, Yan, George.

To Do List,

Organize materials, move furniture/ build walls, paint, hang works, mount didactic, demount/ re- set studios, return all furniture etc, clean.

Journal entries

Fri 13th-

First journal entry. Before today all we had to do was organizer materials and work out a floor plan, i gave my ideas and inputs but little else.

Today however i sued my strength and good looks (jokes) to help Stephan move the demountable walls with unscrewing them and moving them. We also moved some of the floor to the other room and moved the shelving into place where the new walls were to be.

It seems that all that is left for today is to finish cleaning and getting ready to paint.

Mon 16th-

Today i arrived late as usual but got to work and help put up the first few walls then got down to painting them white. A few things i had learned, is that it is a fantastic idea to put plastic down on the ground before you paint, it saves getting white paint all over the ground >>. The second thing is that gum tape, (used for water painting) can hides those oh so annoying gaps in between panels. But wait till they dry completely before painting over them and make sure you dont paint on the area before you put them on… And last is that it can be very painful painting all day, painting  big fucking walls.

Tue 17th-

Today was very rushed, i arrived the latest i had been in a long time which did not help the display team but i made up for it by being one of the last to leave. Today was just painting. Nothing else to break up the pain of painting. After the day my whole body was sore but it must not have compared to the hard workings  of the rest of the team and of course the helpers who did not have to help but because they did, made the job so much more easier.

A few more things we gathered… 1. Don’t try and paint over ink with white. You could be their all day and it will not matter, it will seep through. The only salutation is to wash it very very very well or to not use that side of the board. Hopefully with the dark lights no one will notice. Another thing is that without music, the day drags on and destroys you mentally. That maybe on the sides it would be easier to paint all that before placing them on and doing a second coat because it is a pain to get in there after it has been screwed into place due to the overlap of the outer walls.

And lastly, make sure if you have a lot of people in the exhibition have a lot of people on the display team. It is a big job, and if we didn’t have the helpers we would still be their now trying to finish.

Exhibit Artwork Process.

This is a post posted for my teacher to mark.

The exhibition artwork was hard due to the fact that i didn’t know what to do for most of the time.

I had the tendency to complete something them remove it because it wasn’t what i wanted.

NibbleBit.com

This was the first painting i started and finished. At First i got m idea for this painting with a picture i had found on the internet, NibbleBit.com

I liked how expressive and tormented the picture was.

First i did a sketch of the rough layout of the picture, drawing in the main lines. Then i photocopied the picture and did one that showed where the shadows were to be placed, the second one where the blood to be place and a third one that showed where the body was to be. As you can see i never ended up putting the body into the work.

I ended up painting the background, which then became the painting, several times. One was a scummy feel painting job that was very dark, dirty and rough, then decided that it didn’t look like a clean bathroom that had been left to decay, so i then painted over top using clean crisp colors matching the color scheme of my parents bathroom due to me not for the life of me know what colors a bathroom should be.

I then painted the dirtyness on top using mostly browns and greens to show mold and dirt. At the end i placed a blood mixture i had made over top for the blood. The problem with the blood is that i did it standing p for most so it looks like the blood is placed on top of the picture and not in it, i did in the end try to make it pool where it would if it was in the real painting but was not as efficient as i had hoped.  Last with the idea of Stephen, i glued, using the blood mixture, a stanly knife onto the painting.

In the end i really like the mirror, it could have been made better if i could figure out how to create cracks in it and make it look real with how it distorts the image, but ran out of patience.

The next process is of Candy Coated Dreams.

When i started this one i was hoping to do cute pictures, (which was noting like my art powerpoint said i would do), but in the process of making the pictures, I found that i liked the process better then he finished product. I would have continued cute pictures and interesting pictures like these,  NibbleBit.comand this,NibbleBit.com but ended up using pornographically placed pictures. I did this to ensure i had a very controversial piece. Some of the pictures where like this.NibbleBit.com and like this.NibbleBit.com

I then decided to change the pictures slightly giving them more contrast so i had more lines to work with. I changed simple things like contrast, hues, and colors to bring the picture into a more primeval stage. This gave it simplistic lines that gave off ambiguous forms.  In the end it gave a fantastic juxtaposition where dirty adult material of the subject matter contrasted nicely with the childish and bright colors of the background.

NibbleBit.com

First i started off with blank paper with which i softly made flowing colors over, some bright and vibrant, others dull and soft.

Then using carbon paper traced bold lines from the picture. (The finished product will be on another post when i have it in its exhibition position).

This last one is one of my favorite ones. It was brought along by a beautifully placed picture and my own personal circumstances.

NibbleBit.com

The picture was found off the internet like most of my inspiration,

NibbleBit.comusing this as a bases i then decided to do a sketch in my book of what i wanted the painting to look like.

NibbleBit.com

I then decided to practice the picture more by making a slightly bigger one and painting it. I ended up with this,

NibbleBit.com

I was not completely happy with it and decided to change some of the things with it, i decided to crop the picture and remove the blood and the drainhole and to remove the eyes.  I quite liked how the hair turned out, but was unhappy with the reflectiveness of it. To create that i did an undercoating of black paint and then used oil paints over top, semi and op type.

In the end i ended up with the finished product which i like the most out of all of them. The hair and skin i feel just doesn’t look right but i was not going to change them due to the fact that i had used so much time going over and over the background and skin. I had changed the skin coloring and look several times, but kept to a blue white and brown color scheme to have a death look to it.

NibbleBit.com

This is one of the ideas that fell through. At first i was going to paint them but enjoyed the drawn look wanted to keep it something like this. but with more detail. I had trouble transferring  the picture to the board. The pictures where from a book i found at the dump that was made in the early 60 or 70’s who pictures may have been innocent then but now- a- days are quite perverted. This is the book and two of the five images i chose to do.

After that failed attempt i decided to do close up of male faces mostly concentrating on the eyes. After i trialed doing some eyes freehand i decided against it.

In the end i tried a more comic style drawings, based on the ideas taken from Salad Fingers which i had been watching for those several days. Here is the video, i am sure you can easily see the comparison.

Ok Last Post For Tonight.

Well Today has been busy. Not only did i have a friends birthday, where i met some beautiful people, and a bi boy, i also had my ex over.

The party was a huge success, it had music, food, drink, social, a little wadding pool to cool off in this horrible heat, but also a jumping castle. Yes i may be 19, but a jumping castle was awesome.

I am happy that i was honored enough to be invited.

The night went swimmingly with gaming talking and experimenting new things. I was amused when a straight friend of mine yet again indulged himself in spin the bottle and was quite happy to kiss other boys and in a rare occasion well 3 rare occasions indecently expose himself for the whim of truth and dare. Oh what glee. I was… graced…  enough to have my own personal view which i was flattered. Alas the poor boy has still yet to learn t he danger of drinking too much’ *shakes head*. But children are young and make mistakes to learn, it would just be more pleasing to see that they learn from their mistakes >>.

Awe yes, the bi boy was very upfront with what he was confused with and asked me for pointers, Oo, which i explained to his indulgence, and i was taking abashed by his willingness to try. Oh woe is me, and red faced, to have splattered an agreement, only to laugh when his girlfriend turned up, tipsy and lightheaded with her drinking spell. Slightly disjointed, yes disjointed not disappointed,  i endeavored to still get to know the lad and his girlfriend, (which i ended up adoring). It seems that people are affected by depression in such large numbers and yet still feel ashamed that they don’t seek treatment. The boy in question had his moments where his mood turned somber and allusive, ( if that is the right word, i am dreadful at English), and very anti- social. I understand, as i go through them stages as well but it was so sad to see it in someone younger then me. Then to met yet another lad who i swear was not in his body but away from it he was that empty.  He would not answer or move and after sitting with him for awhile did he come out of his shell. The dear boy does greatly need someone to love him. And he was such an attractive guy, i don’t see how his fellow pupils call him unattractive. But i guess i am not in school anymore and nor am i a girl that follow trends.

The most mentally draining was seeing my ex. I dear say i do not have a clue why he came over after always finding excuses to not arrive. I don’t even know what i was think because its so emotionally difficult because of the drastic breakup. I still can’t forgive him for what he did to me and i can’t forgive myself for what i did to myself. It has been over a year though since the incident, so i assumed i had some strength. I did not find him as attractive, emotionally, as i did before, but i assumed it was to do with me being scared to be hurt yet again. But i did see the little things that i fell in love with. I guess I have to thank him because if it wasn’t for him i would not be as insightful and not as fucked up, but i am upset because now i am just an annoying clingy child that is emotional abrasive who scares and creeps  people. But i am not sure, not sure at all.

I guess this is the end of this long post that seems quite unneeded, but it is because this type of incidents, is what i use as inspiration to my work.

Band of The Week- Valravin.

NibbleBit.com
I know very little of this band for i have only heard 3 songs and found out about it tonight. I caught it off ‘Skyclad Scribble’.

Their Myspace is nearly as beautiful as their music, be warned that it is cluttered so if your internet, like mine, is being gay and going slow, it might take a bit to load, but it is worth it.

This is a link to their website’.
And one to their Facebook.
On a side note, while looking at Wiki, i found out what Valraven means;

According to Danish folklore recorded in the late 1800s, when a king or chieftain was killed in battle and not found and buried, ravens came and ate him. The ravens became valravne. The valravn that ate the king’s heart gained human knowledge and could perform great malicious acts, could lead people astray, had superhuman powers, and were “terrible animals”.[1]

In another account, a valravn is described as a peaceless soul in search of redemption that flies by night (but never day) and can only free itself from its animal countenance by consuming the blood of a child. This is reflected in a Danish traditional song that describes how, after refusing offers of riches, the Valravn makes an agreement with a maiden to take her to her betrothed after she promises the valravn her first born son. After the agreement, the valravn flies away. In time, the couple have a child and the Valravn returns, and asks the maiden if she has forgotten her promise. The valravn takes the child away, and tears into the chest of his won wager and consumes the blood contained within the child’s heart. As a result, the valravn transforms into a knight. Other accounts describe valravns as monsters that are half-wolf and half-raven.[2]

Here is a little video of them.

Artist of The Week- Audrey Kawasaki

Well to start of this little artist corner i decided to choose one that reminds me so much of my friends work. I present this lady, Audrey Kawasaki.

A beautiful lady whos’ paintings are soft and beautifully done and yet is juxtaposed by such an abrasive subject matter. You can see that she pulls this off with such easy that can only be earned through years of practice.

NibbleBit.com

I have not included some of her very strong work, but please click on this link to visit her website and look at more of her work.

I choose her because i enjoy how you can see the wood grain in her paintings, something that i have been trying to experiment with in my last few pieces of work. Her soft and gently edges to her forms also gives the painting a delicate feeling towards it and i wish my own work can grasp that.
